Sudden Incident
After a trip to Phu Quoc in early December, 2020, Phuong got a severe fever and a strange stomach on the way home. The pain was so unbearable that she was taken to the emergency department of 198 hospital. She also had several thorough medical checks in other prestigious hospitals in Hanoi, where she was diagnosed with rectal cancer stage IV.
Phuong, however, accepted it more gently and positively than ever. At first, she also felt scared, cried and even had negative thoughts when hearing the bad news, but she didn't allow herself to fall. Phuong always thinks: "Whatever is destined to happen will happen. Just be happy and positive, then everything will be fine”. Minh Phuong has taken 13th transfusion of chemicals and undergone 2 arduous painful surgeries.
Boundless Energy
During the treatment period, Phuong regularly updates her situation and chemotherapy sessions at the hospital. To many people, this experience is not happy at all and makes them feel self-deprecating, but Phuong considers it as rest time after days of studying and working hard. In addition, Phuong also reads many foreign cancer-related documents in a very scientific way and cooperates with doctors to self-cure somehow.

Except for chemotherapy days, Phuong still tries to keep the normal working habits such as reading books in the morning, making daily to-do lists and joining company meetings. On Facebook, Phuong created an album Moi ngay thay doi the gioi mot chut with self sharing as well as knowledge about cancer in an optimistic and funny way to let cancer-suffering patients not be stigmatized. Moreover, Phuong also joined some workshops as a speaker to connect with other cancer patients and give them fresh inspiration.

“We are all seeking who we are, what we like, and what we want”, Minh Phuong shared in the end of the interview with The Eternity. Especially to most youngsters, who remain ambiguous about their personal identity, Phuong wants to advise them to be more engaged in many different jobs to find out what is the most suitable for them rather than do next to nothing. She believes that we just need to put our heart and soul into what we do and then one day, we definitely succeed down the road.

Rectal cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the rectum. The rectum is part of the body’s digestive system. The digestive system takes in nutrients (vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and water) from foods and helps pass waste material out of the body. The digestive system is made up of the esophagus, stomach, and the small and large intestines. The colon (large bowel) is the first part of the large intestine and is about 5 feet long. Together, the rectum and anal canal make up the last part of the large intestine and are 6-8 inches long. The anal canal ends at the anus (the opening of the large intestine to the outside of the body). (Click here for more details) |
